Water Restrictions
Level 1 Water Restrictions from 3 August 2020
Following the rain event over the weekend, Lake Rowlands the town water supply source for Central Tablelands Water (CTW) is now spilling.
The general manager of CTW, Gavin Rhodes said: “the rapid rate of which Lake Rowlands has filled has been incredible. With the catchment now saturated and all the tributaries flowing, the Lake increased from 32.5% in late April to topping by the end of July. During July the dam increased by over 40%, with a 20% increase occurring over a 30 hour period.”
Mr Rhodes said, “It once again proves the reliability of the catchment, and strengthens the justification for augmenting Lake Rowlands to assist in managing future droughts for our consumers and the region.”
The Council of CTW resolved at an extraordinary meeting on Wednesday 29 July to ease water restrictions for the entire CTW supply network from Level 4 to Level 1 commencing Monday 3 August 2020 due to Lake Rowlands being at full capacity.
CTW’s chairman, Cr David Somervaille said, “It is fantastic to see Lake Rowlands spilling once again. This spill event in such a short period of time displays the resilience of the catchment and clearly demonstrates the water security potential for the region.”
Cr Somervaille said, “Council were unanimous in endorsing senior management’s recommendation of easing water restrictions to Level 1, however, the CTW board and senior management strongly encourage our consumers to continue to use water wisely.”
Level 1 restrictions consists of the watering of lawns and gardens daily, between 6am to 10am and 4pm to 10pm. All information pertaining to the requirements of Level 1 Water Restrictions is available on CTW’s website at www.ctw.nsw.gov.au or by contacting the CTW administration office on 02 6391 7200.
Level 1 water restrictions for the entire CTW supply network will come into effect from Monday 3 August 2020. All CTW consumers are on permanent Level 1 water restrictions.
